A Turning Point

I entered the field of psychology relatively late in life. My previous career, although successful, had felt imposed upon me by circumstance, rather than authored in any meaningful way. 2010 marked a turning point, one that would ultimately end in a professional career in psychology. Two events stand out for me; my wife and I volunteered to facilitate a community based 12-step addiction recovery program (-ARP), and I made an appointment to see a psychologist regarding a problem I had struggled with for some time. Together these events began a ground shift in my self-awareness and a dissolution of the pretence that had characterized so much of my life.

My approach utilizes a mix of Emotion Focused Therapy and Schema therapy  Please see below for services available.

Individual Counselling

I utilize a unique blend of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Schema Therapy as a theoretical framework for addressing your challengers.

EFT focuses on exploring and processing emotions, helping you develop more adaptive ways of coping with life’s challenges.

EFT provides a proven way to access core emotions and their underlying patterns, fostering self-awareness and emotional resilience.

Incorporating Schema Therapy, we address deep-rooted beliefs and early-life experiences that may influence current maladaptive emotional responses and behaviours.

By identifying and challenging these schemas, we work towards positive change and improved well-being.

With my integrative approach I hope to cover all of the facets that contribute toward change, behavioural, cognitive, emotional and relational.

Relationships & Couples Therapy

Couples often find themselves prisoners to a cycle of conflict characterized by misunderstanding and anger. In our practice, we integrate Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) as a proven way of addressing these relational problems.

EFT is an evidence-based approach that places emotions at the core of the therapeutic process. It works from the premise that our deepest needs in a relationship revolve around a need for a partner who is emotionally accessible, available, and responsive.

With a strong emphasis on attachment theory, EFT helps us understand and transform emotional responses within your relationship. EFT provides a framework for partners to explore and express heretofore unexpressed feelings, fostering a secure and lasting bond.

Through EFT, we support you in effectively communicating your needs and fears, breaking negative cycles, and building a deeper emotional connection. Our compassionate guidance and practical tools will empower you to enhance intimacy, trust, and understanding, creating a more fulfilling and loving partnership.
